Hi eveyone, well things were tense last night. No sails or spars so what to do? long range support from back home was great with Fiona Rainback leading the charge to find the sails. Fi tracked them doen to guess where - Heathrow, so after some tough chat Fi managed to get them on a flight to here and they should fingers crossed come tonight. The fall back is that we can buy new sails here tommorrow morning if we need them.
So what about today.......
Up at 0800 for breakfast, Matt tried noodles and realised that they weren't his cup of tea so he went back to soggy cornflakes and full fat milk.
Then we had a 'summit' to discuss sails and decided to use the old MAS sails for the day.
Today we start sharing with the Kiwis and they are a great bunch. We went out and did some downwind races, upwind races and some rabbit runs. Suprizingly were weren't very slow just slow, but the team weere pleased with their efforts.
Then it was a big tow in as the wind 'crapped out'- well thats what they say here amongst other things.
We derigged the MAS sails, and had to do a video blog about the country, the people and why we were using MAS sails, it took 5 goes but it was good.
Then at 1500 we went for part measuement, well for the part we had. The hulls, foils all passed and after 20 minutes they declared Arrons sail number legal.
Curly Morris talked to the team about measurement after racing, whistles , bands, tied in paddle, bailers, dagger board.
There were a few spots of rain so we went inside to have lunch and a monsoon occured a massive downpour. David Holman- Arrans dad joined and showed us where the leaches had stuck to him in the rainforest- nasty.
We are now back at the hotel, the boys are playing waterpolo against Sweden.
We have just heard that Graham Wallis who is oin his way here tracked down Ollies foils in a rest home for lost stuff at Heathrow so they are coming here too.
Quotes of the day
Arran- 'do you want a fight'
Scott 'mate, mate, mate'
Ollie ' what is a gypsy'
Matt ' I'll have a fight'
Josh 'do they have polar bears here'- Joke
Jen- 'don't let them past' other sailors using our parking place as a thourghfare.
Thats all for now, dinner then bed.
Alan
