Opening Ceremony

Hi all  we have just returned from the open air evening 'in the dark' opening ceremony.

We managed to get on the first coach which took 30 minutes to get there at 1830, and ended up at an amazing square by the ferry terminal. With what must be the worlds biggest sculputured eagle, a monster about 100' feet tall which was the back drop to the opening.

First we had dinner and al the parents joined us. Jen and Graham were promoted to the posh seats, and we apologised for upsetting the Aussies in the cricket.  Then we went on a parade of countries, and had we all had to go onto the stage to recieve event medals- even before any had been won. Scott held the flag until he got fed up then he passed it around to the rest of the team.

During the darkness, Matt and Arran bumped into each other and Arrans pass went missing, we are still investigating- but maybe a monitor lizard made off with it- it might get free food  and a boat at the club.

We came back in a taxi as things were getting late, the taxi should have been 5 ringits [£1] but we paid £4 to escape.

Everyone is in bed now keeping fingers crossed for a decent wind tomorrow .

Alan
